Insomniac Games have announced new game entitled Song of the Deep. In an announcement post on Insomniac’s site the game is described as a “brand-new Metroidvania-style underwater adventure.” Song of the Deep stars nautical enthusiast Merryn. With a homemade submarine Merryn sets out into the seas in search of her father, a fisherman who has gone missing. Players will explore the vast underwater world, travelling through sunken cities and creepy caverns. Players will solve intricate puzzles and fight a myriad of monsters. Using a mysterious substance called Tyne players will be able to improve their submarine with new weapons and tools. Little else is known about Song of the Deep but with E3 happening a few months before release we can expect more information to be released then.
Song of the Deep will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It will also be available for pre-order on all of those platforms at GameStop. Unfortunately there is no news about availability at EB Games or any other Canadian retailer. You can get Song of the Deep digitally on PSN, Xbox Live and Steam for $14.99. Song of the Deep is targeting a Summer 2016 release. Insomniac is an old studio in video game years. They worked on the beloved Spyro series on the PlayStation and created the Ratchet & Clank series for the PlayStation 2. Their most recent game Sunset Overdrive was an Xbox One exclusive and currently has an 81 on Metacritic. Needless to say Insomniac’s track record is reason alone to be excited for Song of the Deep.
